Hi, I’m Deborah Sleeman (she/her). I’m a Parent Educator focused on supporting parents so they and their children can thrive. While I’ve been working with parents of young children for 15+ years, I began concentrating on the needs of parents of LGBTQ+ youth in 2019. That's the year my oldest child unexpectedly came out to us as transgender. Since then, I’ve thrown myself into learning how to support her, and become an advocate and a resource for other families in my community both professionally and personally. I provide Parent Coaching and Classes on supporting LGBTQ+ youth to parents and community members. I love hearing from young people about how they want to be supported by the adults in their lives.
In addition to my years of teaching at a local community hospital, and my journey as a parent, I love to learn new things! I'm a PCI-Certified Parent Coach, a Bringing Baby Home Educator through the Gottman Institute, and an RYT-200 Hour Yoga Teacher. I'm also a volunteer Parent Support Group Facilitator for Transfamilies.
My husband and I have a two young adult children, both of whom identify as LGBTQ+. I also teach yoga and love to read. As a family we enjoy traveling, playing games and having spirited discussions about current events. Seeing the unique, awesome humans my children are becoming is one of my great joys.
